Help us improve and grow

Decolonize Palestine is an independent, self-funded project founded by two Palestinians living in Ramallah. The research and writing for these articles have been a labor of love spanning over a year, which we plan to continue and improve upon going forward. While we are proud of this work, we know that it is has only scratched the surface of this project’s potential.

To achieve said potential, we are in need of professional programmers and artists to improve the reach and quality of the site, both of which are beyond our current financial means and technical capabilities.

So if you feel like you’ve learnt something new from the website, please feel free to share our work with others. Additionally, consider backing us on Patreon to support the expansion of the site as well as our continued education.

Why Patreon?

There are a few advantages to Patreon over traditional donation platforms:

First, it provides a more predictable and stable monthly estimation of the donations. This helps us plan and schedule website improvements. Second, it helps build a sense of community through tools which directly connect Patrons to us. Not only does this encourage more open communication, it is also a communal way to hold us accountable.

Can't you just use ads?

While we could plaster our pages with ads, there are some pretty large drawbacks to this approach. Quite frankly, nobody likes advertisements. They can be ugly and distracting. We’ve commissioned art from a variety of Palestinian artists, and we’d hate for any advertisement to take away, distract from, or even clash with that.

A further problem with advertisements is that we have very little control over their content. For instance, looking at our articles’ keywords and tags, combined with how advertising algorithms work, we wouldn’t be surprised if they started displaying advertisements for Israeli products and companies.

They are simply not conducive to the kind of environment we want to foster.

Will any content be inaccessible if I don't donate?

Not at all!

That goes against the very reasons we made this website to begin with. Our patrons will receive early versions of our articles a few days in advance, otherwise you will never be locked out of content.

Donating is only a way to materially show your support and appreciation for the website and its authors.

What are some of your future plans?

We’re very excited about what we have in store for the website.

Naturally, it goes without saying that we are planning for more introductory and ‘rainbow washing’ articles, new myths, and greatly expanded FAQ and reading list pages.

Additionally, new sections are in the works, such as a Nakba war crimes database, and many other surprise mini-projects that we think you’ll be thrilled about.

We also hope to develop an Arabic version of the website. Further languages are a real possibility.
